Her nomination was earlier rejected by the Returning Officer due to a discrepancy in her caste certificate. After the rejection, Yamini filed a plea in the High Court seeking relief. However, the court upheld the Returning Officer’s decision.

With Yamini’s disqualification, the Congress party is now deliberating whether to extend support to an independent candidate in the elections.
