Dehradun, 13 Nov: Former BJP state spokesperson Ravindra Jugran has reacted to the recent leadership change in the Uttarakhand Congress, calling it unfortunate for the state that the principal opposition party has turned into a “dead opposition”. He said that such leadership changes will not make any difference.
Jugran stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wishes for the principal opposition party to play an active, strong, and constructive role in the interest of Uttarakhand — but such signs are nowhere to be seen. He added that for the sake of democracy and the state’s welfare, it is essential to have a strong and responsible opposition.
Jugran remarked that since the formation of Uttarakhand, the state has never witnessed such a weak and lifeless opposition. He criticised the Congress leadership, saying it is confined merely to ritualistic statements and formalities. According to him, there is no sign — from Dehradun to Delhi — of any courage within the Congress leadership to fight against flaws in the system.
He further stated that a truly committed and determined leadership fights on every front — from the streets to the Assembly and even up to the Supreme Court — and does not remain limited to issuing symbolic statements. Jugran said that the Congress leadership, driven by narrow self-interest, is disappointing not only the people of Uttarakhand but also its own party workers.
Jugran asserted that the Congress has lost its voice out of fear of investigative agencies.
