The counting of votes for the Uttarakhand district panchayat and block pramukh elections has begun, with results showing mixed gains for Congress and BJP. In Dehradun, Congress registered a significant victory as Sukhwinder Kaur was elected Zila Panchayat Chairperson with 17 votes against BJP’s Madhu Chauhan, who secured 13. Congress also won the vice-chairperson post, with Abhishek Singh gaining 18 votes against his rival’s 12.
In Chamoli, BJP’s Daulat Bisht became Zila Panchayat Chairperson, while in Rudraprayag, Poonam Katait from BJP secured the top post. At the block level, Chamoli’s Pankaj Shukla and Vinita Chamoli from Congress were elected as block pramukhs. In Tehri, Congress’s Man Singh Raotela won the vice-chairperson post with 26 votes against BJP’s Hukam Singh, while BJP’s Ishita Sajwan had earlier been elected unopposed as chairperson.
BJP retained control in several block posts, including Rajiv Kandari in Bhilangna, Manisha Panwar in Pratapnagar, and Diksha Rana in Narendra Nagar. However, the results also show Congress making notable gains, particularly in Dehradun and Tehri vice-chairperson posts.
