Dehradun: In a tragic incident, Police Constable Tanuj Singh Rawat lost his life after being struck by a falling rock in the Teendhara area under Devprayag police station, Tehri district. The accident occurred while he was on leave and visiting the area.
Constable Rawat was currently posted with the Mounted Police Unit at Police Lines, Dehradun, and was originally appointed in the 40th Battalion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). He had been on leave since April 7. On Monday, while in the Teendhara region, a rock suddenly fell from the hillside, fatally injuring him.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, Ajay Singh, expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of the constable and extended condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed for the strength and courage of the grieving relatives.
Tanuj Singh Rawat was a native of village Palethi, post office Palethi, under Nandprayag police station in Chamoli district. He had joined the police department as a constable in 2023. His untimely death has cast a shadow of grief over the department.
