DAC Approves ₹1.05 Lakh Crore for 10 Indigenous Defence Deals

In a major push to India’s defence preparedness and self-reliance, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved 10 key defence procurement proposals worth approximately ₹1.05 lakh crore. All approvals fall under the ‘Buy (Indian-IDDM)’ category, which means the systems will be indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured.

What Systems Will Be Procured?

The approved procurement includes a range of sophisticated platforms and technologies aimed at strengthening the Army, Navy, and Air Force:

  • Armoured Recovery Vehicles: To recover and repair damaged tanks and heavy vehicles during combat.
  • Electronic Warfare Systems: To disable enemy radar and communication systems using cutting-edge indigenous tech.
  • Integrated Common Inventory Management System: To unify and streamline logistics and supply chains across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  • Surface-to-Air Missiles: For enhanced aerial defence capabilities for the Air Force and Navy.

Major Boost for Indian Navy

Several critical naval systems have also been cleared:

  • Moored Mines: Underwater explosive devices to protect naval assets.
  • Mine Countermeasure Vessels: Specialised ships to neutralise enemy sea mines.
  • Super Rapid Gun Mounts: High-speed naval guns for close-range defence.
  • Submersible Autonomous Vessels: Unmanned underwater drones for surveillance and intelligence gathering.

These projects will be designed, developed, and manufactured entirely by the Indian defence industry, aligning with the Make in India initiative and reducing reliance on foreign imports.
