Dehradun: A speeding car lost control and crashed into a tree on the Dehradun–Paonta National Highway near Selakui late Saturday night, killing one engineering student and leaving two others critically injured. The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Satyam Kumar alias Harshraj from Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
His friends, Vineet (21) from Bihar and Saurabh Singh (24) from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, sustained serious injuries. Vineet is undergoing treatment at Doon Hospital, while Saurabh Singh has been admitted to the Graphic Era Hospital in Dhoolkot. All three were students of JBIT College, Selaqui.
According to Kotwali in-charge Shankar Singh Bisht, the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. near the large mosque in Rampur. Upon receiving the information, a police team rushed to the site and found the car completely mangled. The victims were rescued and taken to the Sahaspur Community Health Centre by 108 emergency ambulance services, where doctors declared Satyam Kumar dead. The other two were referred to higher medical centres due to their critical condition.

The police have completed the inquest proceedings, and the body has been sent for post-mortem. Families of the deceased and the injured have been informed.
