Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport is set to be linked by air to Asia’s largest airport — Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport) — for the first time. Additionally, Air India Express will begin operating flights from Dehradun to three major Indian cities: Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Navi Mumbai.
This expansion is part of the upcoming winter schedule, typically implemented at the end of October. Indigo has proposed to launch a 180-seater flight to Jewar Airport for the first time. Meanwhile, Air India Express will also debut at Dehradun Airport with three direct 180-seater flights.
Flights are currently pending approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Once approved, the airline will initiate staffing and ticketing. While Dehradun already has flights to Bengaluru and Ahmedabad by other carriers, this will mark the first air connectivity to Jewar and Navi Mumbai from the state capital.
Jewar and Navi Mumbai airports are both newly constructed and scheduled to start operations on September 29 and 30, respectively, with domestic flights initially, followed by international routes. Their launch is expected to ease traffic at Delhi and Mumbai’s main airports.
At present, four airlines — Indigo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Alliance Air — operate over 12 daily flights from Dehradun. Air India Express will become the fifth operator, further increasing flight options and regional connectivity.
