To ease travel for passengers during the Diwali season, the railway department has introduced a special passenger train service between Dehradun and Lucknow. This special service, which will operate until November 9, is expected to provide significant relief for travelers returning to Dehradun after the festival.
Earlier, the absence of any dedicated festive train from Dehradun station had left many passengers struggling to secure seats. Trains heading towards eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were overcrowded, with barely any space to stand. The issue was highlighted in the October 31 edition of Amar Ujala, drawing attention to passengers’ challenges. Responding to the concerns, DRM Moradabad took swift action and escalated the matter to senior railway officials.
As of Thursday, railway authorities approved a special train. According to Aditya Gupta, Chief Commercial Manager, the train will depart from Dehradun station at 6:15 PM and head towards Lucknow. The service will run until November 8 from Dehradun and until November 9 from Lucknow.
Additionally, the Prayagraj Sangam-Yoganagari Rishikesh Express has been equipped with two extra general coaches, allowing more passengers to travel comfortably during the festive rush.
