Dehradun, October 26, 2024 – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the 66-foot-high National Flag Memorial at Survey Chowk, E.C. Road, Dehradun, under the Dehradun Smart City Project. He also unveiled the main gateway to Paltan Bazaar, adding to the heritage charm of one of the city’s oldest markets.
The National Flag Memorial at Survey Chowk was established as a symbol of patriotism and national pride. Located on a significant route that connects Dehradun’s key sites, including the President’s Aashiyana, Raj Bhawan, CM’s residence, and the state Secretariat, the memorial aims to inspire a deep sense of nationalism among locals and visitors alike.

Prominent attendees included Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das, Vice President of Uttarakhand Culture, Literature, and Art Council Madhu Bhatt, BJP Metropolitan President Siddharth Agarwal, and officials from the Smart City project. Sonika, CEO of Dehradun Smart City Limited, emphasized the strategic location of Survey Chowk, which serves as a gateway for tourists heading toward Mussoorie, with the memorial serving as a powerful reminder of the nation’s unity and heritage.
The entrance at Paltan Bazaar is part of the Smart City initiative to combine modern infrastructure with traditional aesthetics, enhancing the experience for locals and tourists while preserving the historic charm of the marketplace.
