A man from Dehradun fell victim to a cyber fraud, losing ₹1.10 crore after befriending a woman on WhatsApp and Telegram who lured him into investing in a fake trading platform named PU Prime. The Cyber Crime Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

According to DSP Ankush Mishra, the complainant was initially convinced when the woman, claiming to be involved in the furniture and investment business, helped him earn a profit of around ₹20,000. Gaining his trust, she then persuaded him to invest larger amounts. Between July and August 2025, he invested a total of ₹1.10 crore. However, when he attempted to withdraw his money, he was asked to pay additional tax. Realizing he had been duped, he approached the police.

DSP Mishra stated that cybercriminals are now using such new tactics to trap people. He urged citizens to remain alert, avoid falling for investment schemes promoted by strangers on social media, and refrain from clicking on suspicious links.
