Dehradun – In line with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s “Janman Sarvapratham” policy, the Dehradun district administration under DM Savin Bansal has taken strict action against agencies violating safety norms during construction works. On Canal Road, due to negligence and violation of standards, cases have been registered against officers and contractors of the Jal Sansthan. Similarly, on Mata Mandir Road, cases have been filed against officials and contractors of GAIL and UPCL. All three agencies have been blacklisted for three months, and they are barred from receiving any new work permits during this period.
Despite being granted conditional work permission with strict safety guidelines, the agencies carried out work carelessly, putting public safety at risk. This led to public outrage and created a high probability of accidents. The administration registered cases for causing damage to government property and endangering public safety. The agencies were found leaving debris and equipment on roads and not leveling the roads after excavation, in clear violation of nighttime construction conditions.
The DM emphasized that any compromise with public safety will not be tolerated. The construction was permitted at night to minimize inconvenience, but the agencies defied the rules by working during the day without following any safety norms. In response, FIRs have been lodged against the officials and contractors, and strict warnings have been issued that any future negligence will result in adverse entries in service records and further restrictions.
