Delhi Metro: Special Rules Implemented for New Year’s Eve

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced special measures to manage crowd and ensure safety on New Year’s Eve. From 9 PM onwards on December 31, passengers will not be allowed to exit the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, although entry to the station will remain open. Chief Executive Director of DMRC, Anuj Dayal, stated that the decision was taken based on recommendations from the Delhi Police. Additionally, QR tickets will not be available on the DMRC mobile app after 8 PM. Delhi Police, Traffic Police, and Metro authorities have implemented specific arrangements for high-traffic areas like Connaught Place and India Gate. Vehicle movement in these areas will be restricted from 8 PM onwards. AI-based cameras have been installed for real-time monitoring of suspicious activities, while Delhi Police’s high-tech “Yoddha” vehicles will manage crowds and unruly behavior. Approximately 600 police personnel and paramilitary forces will be deployed at sensitive locations to maintain law and order.

Restrictions on Protests and Traffic

No protests will be allowed without prior permission. Several key routes, including Mandi House, Minto Road, Patel Chowk, Gol Market, and Jai Singh Road, will be closed. Security will also be heightened at New Delhi Railway Station and other major hubs across the city.
