Gairsain (Bhararisain), 10 Nov: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today participated in the programme held at the Assembly complex to mark the state’s 25th anniversary. A two-day ceremony was organised in the summer capital of Uttarakhand, Gairsain, to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Uttarakhand’s Formation Day. At the event, he paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the statehood movement and honoured statehood activists by presenting them with shawls.
During the occasion, the CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development schemes amounting to Rs 142.25 crores for the district (Chamoli). The projects include the inauguration of 27 schemes worth Rs 43.63 crores and the foundation stone laying of 33 projects worth Rs 98.62 crores. On this occasion, Dhami also inspected stalls put up at the venue by various departments and felicitated people for commendable work in the fields of sports, education, agriculture, and other sectors.
A ceremonial parade was held on this occasion by contingents of the ITBP, IRB, Civil Police, Home Guard, Women Constabulary, Civil Police/Fire Service, and NCC Women’s Wing, accompanied by the band of the 46th Battalion PAC. The CM took the salute at the parade and lauded the disciplined display.
Extending his greetings to the people on the Silver Jubilee of Uttarakhand’s formation, Dhami paid homage to the brave soldiers who had laid down their lives for the nation and the statehood activists who devoted their lives to the creation of Uttarakhand. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has enhanced the state’s pride by participating in the main event of the Silver Jubilee celebrations and by gifting the state development projects worth over Rs 8,200 crores setting new targets for progress.
The CM also claimed that the State Government is making concerted efforts to establish Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of the world. He said that renovation and beautification works at ancient temples in Kedarkhand and Manaskhand are being accelerated to boost pilgrimage tourism. Remembering Bharat Ratna awardee and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dhami said Vajpayee not only created the state but also provided it with a special industrial package that gave Uttarakhand a new direction and strength.
He said that the State Government is implementing several schemes for the development of Gairsain, adding that the village of Sarkot has been adopted and is being developed as a model village with cooperation between villagers and departments. He claimed that new policies and schemes are being framed for the state’s holistic growth and that this has resulted in Uttarakhand being recognised as one of the leading states in several national indices. The growth rate has risen, farmers’ incomes have increased, and unemployment has fallen by 4.4 per cent. The state has also secured the top position in the Sustainable Development Index and received the Most Film Friendly State Award.
Dhami said that with the Centre’s cooperation, the state is making steady progress in infrastructure, education, health, and air and rail connectivity. The Mandir Mala Mission, the ‘One District One Fair’ scheme, and the promotion of adventure tourism are strengthening the state’s economy. He added that a stringent land law has been enacted to curb the land mafia, while transparency in recruitment has been ensured through the strict implementation of an anti-copying law.
Reminding the people of the State Government’s ‘commitment’ to fulfilling the PM’s vision of ‘Local to Global’, Dhami announced the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Master Plan to develop Gairsain and its adjoining areas on the lines of a Smart City. He also declared that Chaukhutia, Jyotirmath (Joshimath), and Ghansali would soon be connected under the UDAN scheme.
