Uttarakhand will host large-scale cooperative fairs across all districts between October 3 and December 31, focusing on district-specific themes to strengthen the local economy and boost rural livelihoods.
Cooperation Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said the fairs will provide farmers, artisans, youth, women’s self-help groups, and cooperative societies a direct marketplace to showcase and sell their products. Government and inter-departmental schemes will also be promoted through these events. Local MPs, MLAs, mayors, panchayat heads, and cooperative leaders will actively participate, while district-level committees will send daily reports to the state-level committee and submit detailed reports within 15 days of each fair.
Each district will have a unique theme. For example, Almora will focus on “Handicraft Preservation through Cooperation,” with exhibitions of organic products, woolens, and local art, along with a seminar on natural farming. Pauri’s theme will be “Rural Empowerment,” Bageshwar will highlight “Mountain Agriculture,” Rudraprayag will promote “Religious Tourism Development,” and Pithoragarh will focus on “Border Prosperity.”
Chamoli’s fairs will emphasize “Environmental Conservation, Eco-Tourism, and Forest Cooperation,” while Champawat will showcase “Border Area Development.” Other themes include Himalayan biodiversity and adventure tourism in Uttarkashi, industrial agriculture in Udham Singh Nagar, spiritual prosperity in Haridwar, tourism development in Nainital, eco-tourism and environment in Tehri, and urban-rural unity in Dehradun.
