Upon inspection of Ward-12’s Kalika Temple, Hathi Barkala, and Buxi Plaza, it was observed that upstream sources were releasing contaminated water into the stormwater drain. Additionally, no Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) had been installed at Buxi Plaza. Further examination near Sentryon Mall revealed improper construction, with contaminated water flowing from the mall towards the drain.
Immediate Actions Taken:
- Sentryon Mall was fined ₹1,00,000 for releasing untreated water into the stormwater drain.
- Buxi Plaza’s owner was fined ₹1,00,000 for not installing an STP and failing to treat wastewater.
The joint inspection concluded that the stormwater drain, constructed by PWD, would be desilted and cleaned by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation once the slabs are removed.
DM’s Master Plan for Repairing Street Lights:
The DM has introduced significant reforms to streamline streetlight repairs across the city. The responsibility, previously handled by EESL, has now been reassigned to the Municipal Corporation. This shift in duties ends the long-standing operational issues caused by the corporation’s dependence on external entities.
- 35 teams have been formed and allocated vehicles to conduct ward-wise repairs.
- Daily, the teams will address streetlight complaints, report to the Municipal Corporation in the morning, and return by evening for status updates.
During a surprise inspection of the Municipal Corporation’s control room, the DM ordered that all complaints should be computerized and resolved promptly.
District Hospital to Get Blood Bank Soon:
Due to the persistent efforts of DM Savin Bansal, the Dehradun District Hospital will soon have its own blood bank. The state government has issued an order, and a project management unit has been assigned to complete the construction. The DM has directed that cost estimates be submitted within 10 days.
Additionally, the district hospital’s Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), which had been non-operational due to a staff shortage, will soon begin operations. Ten nurses and one pediatrician have been assigned, ensuring that staff will be in place within a week. A dedicated ambulance has also been arranged for the NICU.
Electric Charging Stations and Improved Water Line Repairs:
The DM has taken the initiative to establish multiple charging stations for electric four-wheelers across the city. Ten locations have already been identified as part of a zero-investment model. Further, to address the issue of damaged roads following waterline repairs, the DM has allocated ₹75 lakh from the Water Department’s budget to ensure that roads are repaired swiftly.
