Donald Trump Vs Elon Musk: Rift Ends as Musk Apologizes

The recent tension between former U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk appears to have come to an end. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Wednesday that Trump appreciated Musk’s apology, and clarified that there is no current review of government contracts with Musk’s companies.

Earlier this week, Musk expressed regret over his recent posts about Trump. In a social media statement, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO wrote, “I may have gone too far in some of my recent remarks about President Trump, and I regret that.” Prior to posting the apology, Musk reportedly called Trump late Monday night, according to The New York Times, to convey his feelings personally.

Following this, Musk deleted several posts in which he had criticized Trump’s tax and spending policies, even labeling them “disgusting” at one point. He also acknowledged Trump’s contributions to his own business success during Trump’s presidency.

This gesture comes days after Trump had publicly declared that his relationship with Musk was over, accusing him of being ungrateful. The dispute had escalated on June 5 after Trump criticized Musk for opposing cuts in electric vehicle (EV) subsidies, stating, “I’m very disappointed in Elon. I helped him a lot.” In response, Musk had fired off a series of critical tweets, calling Trump “ungrateful.”

Trump even threatened to withdraw government subsidies given to Musk’s companies. But with Musk’s apology and the deletion of controversial posts, the friction appears to have cooled—for now.
