Dehradun, October 27, 2024 – The newly inaugurated five-story OPD building of Doon Hospital, which also hosts medical college classes on the fifth floor, is facing multiple operational challenges. These deficiencies have led to significant inconvenience for patients, medical staff, and students, prompting the administration to issue a notice to the principal, demanding prompt improvements.
The new OPD building was developed to accommodate the growing needs of Doon Hospital’s patient base and provide facilities for the adjoining medical college. However, just months after its inauguration, serious issues have been highlighted regarding inadequate infrastructure and management lapses. Reports have pointed out that there is a lack of essential amenities like proper seating arrangements, broken elevators, and poor ventilation. Additionally, the sanitation within the building has been criticized, with frequent maintenance gaps impacting the comfort and safety of patients.
The principal has been instructed to review these concerns and provide necessary improvements as per the established standards. The notice emphasizes that corrective actions should be implemented without delay to enhance the functioning of the OPD and uphold the hospital’s commitment to patient care and education.
