DEHRADUN, 25 Oct: Principal of Doon Medical College and Hospital, Geeta Jain, has clarified concerns about doctors’ absence or delays at the hospital. She said that most doctors arrive on time and patient treatment is running smoothly.
Jain explained that sometimes a doctor may be absent from the OPD due to technical reasons or departmental responsibilities, but this does not mean they are neglecting their duties. Doctors are often busy with examinations, surgeries, or special cases.
She said that the hospital OPD sees around 2,000 to 2,500 patients daily, and most patients receive timely treatment. “Our doctors try to ensure that every patient gets proper care and attention,” she added.

Jain also acknowledged a shortage of specialist doctors in some departments. However, she said the hospital staff works together to manage the situation. She added that some doctors have moved to private hospitals due to higher salaries, and the hospital has requested the government to increase pay for its doctors.
The principal said that hospital facilities have improved in recent months. New lab equipment, centrifuges, and improved SMS services for patients have been added. She emphasized that some issues are being exaggerated, while the hospital continues to provide quality care.
