Dehradun: In a case highlighting administrative accountability, the Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal intervened after a teacher from the reputed Edify World School, Mothrowala, alleged that the school had withheld her salary, security deposit, and experience certificate for months. Following the DM’s directions, the school administration released the pending payments and issued the certificate overnight.
Teacher Kanika Madan had raised her grievance during the Janata Darshan held on 13 October, where she informed the DM that despite her resignation, the school management was neither paying her dues nor providing her experience certificate. Acting promptly, the DM instructed the Chief Education Officer to verify the matter and ensure immediate action.
As a result, the school management released Kanika’s two-month salary and security deposit amounting to ₹78,966, along with an updated experience certificate specifying her designation as a Coordinator and teacher for intermediate-level classes.
On Saturday, Kanika visited the Collectorate with her daughters to thank the District Magistrate personally. She expressed gratitude for the swift resolution, stating that the issue had been pending for several months before the DM’s intervention.
The District Magistrate’s proactive approach once again underscored his reputation for ensuring justice in public grievances. His firm stance prompted the school to comply immediately, setting an example for fair administrative conduct in private institutions.
