To enhance the appeal of government schools in Uttarakhand, English-medium schools will be launched in every development block, announced Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat. Speaking after laying the foundation stone for residential buildings and the Education Directorate gate at the SCERT campus, the minister said the decision aims to address declining student enrollment in government institutions.
He shared that a departmental report revealed most parents prefer English-medium education and availability of subject-wise teachers. To address these concerns, 2,000 teachers will be recruited soon. Additionally, just like teachers, education officers will also be required to mark online attendance to improve accountability.
Dr. Rawat also inaugurated construction works worth ₹4.86 crore. The event was attended by MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’, SCERT Director Vandana Gahbryal, Director of Secondary Education Dr. Mukul Sati, Director of Elementary Education Ajay Naudiyal, and Sanskrit Education Director Anand Bhardwaj.
