A one-day seminar and poster competition, organized under the State Clean Ganga Mission Namami Gange, was held at Government Inter College Tyuna, Bagadwal Dhar, Tehri Garhwal. The event was conducted by Government Degree College Chandrabadni (Naikhari), Tehri Garhwal, emphasizing environmental conservation and water resource management.
The program commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana. Soumya Kabatiyal from the Geography Department outlined the event’s objectives. The chief guest, Jagdish Panwar, a social activist and PTA president of the college, educated students on plastic eradication and water conservation, urging active participation in sustainable development.
Distinguished guests included Gyan Singh Negi (Secretary, Bhuvneshwari Mahila Ashram), Suresh Balodi, Ramswaroop Paliwal, Professor Dr. Manish Panwar (Hindi Department), and Dr. Shakir Shah (Mathematics Department). They spoke on various environmental issues, with a strong emphasis on the dangers of single-use plastics and waste management.
Geography lecturer and state activist Poorvi Bangwal expressed concerns about environmental degradation in Uttarakhand, highlighting the deteriorating conditions of forests, land, and water bodies. Zoology lecturer from Inter College stressed the need for plastic alternatives. Students Shivani and Aanchal from Government Degree College Chandrabadni also shared their views on plastic eradication.
Dr. G.P. Thapliyal, the event’s nodal officer, discussed declining river water levels and the adverse effects of pollution. The program concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a pledge for environmental awareness and a rally promoting water conservation and plastic-free living. A total of 135 students participated.
