Fake Shampoo Factory Busted in Sidcul, Three Arrested

A joint operation by Sidcul police and the Drugs Department uncovered a factory producing counterfeit shampoos of popular Hindustan Unilever brands, Clinic Plus and Sunsilk. Authorities seized fake products and equipment worth nearly Rs 15 lakh. Three men — Haseen Ahmed, Shehban, and Mohsin, all residents of Landhaura, Manglaur — were arrested, while one accused managed to escape.

The raid was conducted at a house in Gangotri Enclave Phase-3, Denso Chowk, based on a tip-off. Police recovered large quantities of fake shampoos, raw material, labels, empty bottles, and a packing machine. Drug Inspector Harish Singh and the company’s legal manager confirmed that all seized goods were counterfeit.

During interrogation, prime accused Haseen Ahmed admitted to running the illegal operation without any license under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. He lacked documents for both raw materials and labeling.

FIR Registered Against Accused
According to SHO Nitesh Sharma, police seized four drums of raw material (approx. 1,350 liters), one shampoo filling machine, 800 empty bottles, 32 cartons of counterfeit shampoo, and labels. An FIR has been registered under Sections 316, 318, 61(2), and 63/65 of the Copyright Act. Police are searching for the absconding accused.
