Dehradun: A tragic accident occurred on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road near Kolhukhet on Wednesday morning, where a bike slipped off the road and fell into a deep gorge. The mishap claimed the life of a 40-year-old man, while his teenage son was seriously injured and got trapped on a rocky slope.
According to police, the incident took place around 10 a.m. when two people — father and son — were traveling from Dehradun to Mussoorie for painting work. Their Bajaj Platina motorcycle (UK07AB7926) lost control near Kolhukhet and plunged nearly 300 meters down the hillside.
On receiving the information, police and SDRF teams reached the spot and began the rescue operation. They recovered the injured boy, who was stuck midway on the slope, and rushed him to the hospital for treatment. His father, identified as Aswaq Ahmad (40), a resident of Raipur Adhoiwala, was found dead on the spot. The injured son, Faizan Ahmad (14), is currently under medical care.
Authorities said the cause of the accident appears to be loss of control on the steep and narrow stretch of the mountain road. The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of commuters on the busy Mussoorie-Dehradun route, where several such accidents occur every year.
