A fire broke out on the second floor of the Uttarakhand Assembly building on Friday, causing panic within the premises. The blaze erupted in one of the offices located above the canteen area. Fire brigade personnel quickly reached the scene and managed to control the fire within 10 minutes. Some office items, including curtains and contents of a cupboard, were partially damaged in the incident.
Following the alert, teams from the Nehru Colony police station and the fire department immediately arrived at the spot. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit might have caused the fire.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh has ordered a thorough investigation and asked the fire department to submit a detailed report. He also directed the Assembly’s security personnel to remain vigilant to prevent such incidents in the future.
