Fire in scrap shop, one man burned alive in Rishikesh

Rishikesh, 3 Nov: A tragic fire broke out under suspicious circumstances at a scrap shop on Hiralal Road, here, early Monday morning. During the incident, a young man was burned alive inside the shop. Police have taken the body into custody and sent it to the AIIMS mortuary.

According to officials, the fire started around 3:30 a.m., and the fire brigade team reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. After two hours of hard work, the team managed to control the flames. Firefighters had to break open the lock and lift the shutter to enter the shop and extinguish the fire.

While checking inside, the team found the charred body of a man. The police were informed, and they reached the scene soon after. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

Police said they are investigating how the man entered the shop. It was found that the window on the upper part of the shop did not have a grill, and it is suspected that someone might have entered through it and got trapped when the fire broke out.

Kotwal Kailash Chandra Bhatt said that the exact cause of the incident will be known only after investigation. Fire Officer Girish Loni also stated that a detailed inquiry is underway to find out how the fire started.
