‘Fit Uttarakhand’ Campaign to Be Implemented Swiftly, CM Dhami Issues Directives

‘Fit Uttarakhand’ Campaign

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to accelerate the implementation of the ‘Fit Uttarakhand’ campaign. He instructed the sports, health, AYUSH, food, education, and higher education departments to draft an action plan within 15 days. The campaign will be conducted extensively at both state and district levels every month.

Promoting Healthy Lifestyle Through ‘Eat Right, Be Fit’

CM Dhami emphasized spreading awareness about reducing the intake of sugar, salt, and oil under the ‘Eat Right, Be Fit’ initiative. Schools, colleges, universities, and rural areas will be actively involved in the campaign. Regular health camps will also be organized in educational institutions.

The CM highlighted the importance of mental well-being along with physical fitness. People will be educated on mental health awareness. Additionally, he instructed officials to integrate the ‘Fit Uttarakhand’ campaign into the state’s silver jubilee celebrations. Youth and Mahila Mangal Dals will be involved in promoting healthy eating habits, regular health check-ups, and physical activities. Sports equipment will also be provided at the rural level.

Maximum Utilization of Sports Infrastructure

During the ‘Legacy Plan’ meeting of the sports department, CM Dhami stressed the need for the optimal use of sports infrastructure. Uttarakhand will train talented athletes for national and international competitions while developing a strong sports ecosystem to encourage local youth.

Officials informed that world-class training centers are being developed for young athletes in Uttarakhand. So far, the state has built:

  • 28 multipurpose halls
  • 52 stadiums
  • 155 sports fields
  • 1 shooting range
  • 5 athletics tracks
  • 1 mountaineering center
  • 1 lawn bowl ground
  • 5 astro turfs
  • 1 velodrome
  • 1 adventure training institute

These facilities will be systematically managed under the state’s legacy planning. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary Amit Sinha, Secretaries Shailesh Bagoli, Ravinath Raman, Ranjit Sinha, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, and Sports Director Prashant Arya.
