Gangotri Highway Blocked Due to Avalanche at Changthang, District Headquarters Cut Off

An avalanche has once again struck the Changthang region on the Gangotri Highway, between Dharali and Jangla Bridge in Uttarkashi. This marks the third time that snow has slid in this area, severing the connection between Gangotri Dham and other border regions from the district headquarters. The District Disaster Management Department has confirmed the incident.

On February 28, heavy snowfall in high-altitude areas had triggered avalanches at Dabrani, Jhala, and Bhaironghati. The Meteorological Department had already issued warnings about the risk of avalanches in these regions.
