Roorkee: In a shocking incident on Sunday evening, a gangster along with eight to ten associates, opened indiscriminate fire at the home of a retired teacher in Premrajpur village, under the Bhagwanpur police station. The teacher, Hukum Singh, was shot in the leg and seriously injured, while his family managed to save themselves by hiding inside the house. The family rushed the injured teacher to the Civil Hospital in Roorkee. The police are investigating the matter and have registered a case against the attackers.
According to police sources, the gangster, identified as Deepak Saini from Premrajpur, had a long-standing rivalry with history-sheeter Shashank, who resides in the nearby village of Ruhalki. On Sunday, Deepak, accompanied by his gang, arrived at Shashank’s house on multiple motorcycles and started firing indiscriminately with country-made pistols.
During the attack, one of the bullets struck Shashank’s father, retired teacher Hukum Singh, in his leg, causing him to collapse. The violent incident spread panic throughout the village, and after the assault, the gang fled, brandishing their weapons in the air.
The family members immediately took Hukum Singh to the Civil Hospital, where doctors began treatment. Upon receiving information about the incident, Inspector Surya Bhushan Negi and his team reached the scene to gather information and launch a search for the attackers. However, no arrests have been made so far.
