A grand celebration will be held in Dehradun on 29 August to mark National Sports Day. During the event, athletes from Uttarakhand who won medals in the recently concluded 38th National Games will receive cash prizes. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that a total of nearly Rs 22 crore will be distributed among players.
The ceremony will take place at Parade Ground, featuring performances by Pandavaaz Band along with displays of Yogasana and Mallakhamb. Of the total prize money, Rs 11.69 crore will be given to medal winners of the National Games. Additionally, 432 athletes who secured medals in various national competitions and 27 players who achieved medals in international events will also be awarded.
Under the Chief Minister’s Rising Player Development Scheme, more than Rs 1.75 crore will be transferred to the accounts of 3,900 athletes aged 8–14 years. Similarly, over Rs 3.97 crore will be disbursed to 2,199 athletes aged 14–23 years under the Chief Minister’s Incentive Scheme. The amount for May, June, and July will be released together.
