The Finance Department has announced revised GST rates on various goods and services in Uttarakhand, effective from September 22. Most categories will see reduced tax rates, bringing major relief to consumers ahead of the festive season. Items such as televisions, air conditioners, washing machines, small cars, motorcycles, agricultural equipment, stationery, and confectionery will become cheaper under the new tax structure.
Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar stated that following decisions made in the GST Council meeting, the central government issued notifications for revised rates, which the state has also implemented. The changes will reduce prices, increase purchasing power, and boost demand, thereby encouraging trade.
Officials said that the simplified tax structure will directly benefit the public, especially lower- and middle-income groups. Over the long term, the revision is expected to positively impact the economy by improving consumption and supporting businesses during the festive period.
