A tragic incident has come to light from Haldwani, where an 11-year-old boy lost his life after drowning in a water tank during wheat harvesting. The incident occurred in the Lamachaur Bachhinagar area under the Mukhani police station limits.
According to information, the child was present in the field with his family during wheat harvesting. He had gone to soak bundles of wheat in water when he accidentally fell into an eight-foot-deep pit filled with water near an under-construction site.
The family kept searching for the child, but later spotted his slippers floating in the water, which led to the discovery of the incident. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital in Kathghariya, where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased has been identified as Saurabh Kashyap, a resident of Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh. His father, Chandrabhan Kashyap, works as a mason and lives in Bachhinagar on rent with his family. He had also taken a contract for wheat harvesting in the area.

Saurabh was the youngest among five siblings and had recently passed Class 5, moving to Class 6. His untimely death has left the family in deep shock and grief. Police officials stated that the body has been handed over to the family after postmortem. No formal complaint has been filed in the matter so far.
