Farmers heading towards Dehradun clashed with police at Bahadrabad toll plaza in Haridwar. The protest was organized by Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) against smart meters and electricity issues. Police had set up barricades to stop the march, but farmers broke through, leading to heated exchanges with security forces.
Farmers accused the police of lathi charge, while authorities denied the allegation. SP Dehat Shekhar Suyal clarified that only minimal force was used to maintain law and order and prevent escalation. Heavy police deployment continues at the toll plaza to keep the situation under control.
