In a case of gang rivalry in Haridwar’s Ranipur area, police arrested five members of a group known as “Baj Gang,” including two minors, within hours of a violent attack near the Foundry Gate.
The incident took place on the night of April 21 when a group of eight to ten युवकों attacked two youths—Hunny from Arya Nagar, Jwalapur, and Vanshu from Peeth Bazaar, Jwalapur. During the attack, the accused used knives and also opened fire with illegal firearms. Vanshu sustained a bullet injury in his right hand and was referred to AIIMS Rishikesh for treatment.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh, a police team led by Ranipur Kotwali in-charge Manohar Singh Bhandari conducted a swift operation and arrested the accused from the Dhirwali area. The arrested individuals include Farhan from Kassaban locality, Anmol alias Dhirendra Bakshi from Vishnulok Colony, and Sagar alias Pahadi from Subhash Nagar, along with two minors.
Police recovered one country-made pistol each from Farhan and Anmol, along with cartridges. A knife was recovered from Sagar, while both minors were also found carrying knives.
City SP Abhay Pratap Singh said the group operated an Instagram account under the name “Baj,” using it to showcase violence and intimidate people to establish dominance. The attack was reportedly linked to an earlier case in which Vanshu was a witness, and the accused targeted him to settle scores and assert control.
