Tension gripped Bandarjood village in Haridwar when a dispute over control of a local madarsa turned violent. Two groups clashed with sticks, leaving one person critically injured. Panic spread in the area as the fight escalated, while videos of the incident circulated on social media.
According to reports, villagers have long accused a local resident of illegally taking over the madarsa and failing to account for its financial matters. Despite repeated demands, no clarification was provided, leading to rising tensions.
On Thursday evening, the conflict intensified when supporters of the accused allegedly attacked Haji Inaam with sticks while he was returning from offering prayers at the mosque. He sustained serious head injuries. Locals rushed to the spot and managed to rescue him from the attackers.
Haji Inaam was first taken to a private hospital in Bugguwala, but due to his critical condition, he was referred to a hospital in Jolly Grant for further treatment. Police have received a complaint regarding the attack and are investigating the matter.
