Dehradun: Following the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, Uttarakhand has been placed on high alert. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the incident as extremely tragic and expressed deep condolences to the victims and their families. Calling it a matter of grave concern, he directed Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth to ensure heightened vigilance, strengthen state security, and maintain strict monitoring at all interstate borders.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to tighten security in sensitive and crowded areas, emphasizing that public safety remains the state government’s top priority and that any negligence will not be tolerated.
Across all districts, police have been directed to intensify checking at international and inter-state borders, religious sites, markets, bus stands, railway stations, malls, and other high-footfall areas. DGP Deepam Seth said all district officers have been instructed to increase patrolling, surveillance, and rapid information sharing on suspicious activities while keeping constant watch on social media platforms.
Cheeta mobile units, patrol cars, bomb disposal squads, and dog squads have been activated across the state to conduct extensive searches and security checks in sensitive zones. The State Police Headquarters control room is continuously monitoring the situation.
The DGP has urged citizens not to believe in rumours and to immediately report any suspicious persons, objects, or activities to the nearest police station or through Dial 112. He assured that the Uttarakhand Police is maintaining strict vigilance to ensure public safety.
