On the occasion of Home Guards and Civil Defence Foundation Day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made several major announcements aimed at improving the welfare and working conditions of Home Guard personnel. During the event, the Chief Minister also released the annual calendar of the department.
Under the new measures, Home Guard personnel will now be entitled to 12 casual leaves per year, while women Home Guards will receive maternity leave, fulfilling a long-standing demand within the force.
The Chief Minister announced that personnel deployed above 9000 feet will receive a ₹200 incentive, similar to the police and SDRF. Home Guards trained under SDRF will also receive an additional ₹100 allowance. In addition, the uniform allowance has been reinstated, and the meal allowance has been increased by 50%. The training allowance has been revised from ₹50 to ₹140.
Tribute to India’s First CDS General Bipin Rawat
CM Dhami paid tribute to India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, Late General Bipin Rawat, on his fourth death anniversary at Kanak Chowk Park. He laid a wreath at General Rawat’s statue and remembered him as a symbol of courage, discipline, and national pride.
The Chief Minister said that General Rawat’s life remains an inspirational example of patriotism and duty, guiding future generations towards service to the nation. A two-minute silence was also observed by public representatives, soldiers, and citizens in his honour.
