Haldwani – A 54-year-old woman from Almora, Rekha Juhuwala, was found dead in a hotel room near Haldwani Roadways Station on Wednesday. She had recently shifted to the hotel after her landlord asked her to vacate her rented room for not paying rent. The exact cause of death is still unknown.
Police said the hotel staff alerted them when the woman did not open the door. Kotwali Inspector Vijay Singh Mehta reached the spot with a team and broke the door. Rekha was lying unconscious on the bed and was declared dead at the hospital. Officers said no poison or signs of hanging were found in the room. The cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report.

Police also confirmed that she had been living alone in a rented room near Old ITI on Bareilly Road before being evicted. They suspect she may have taken the hotel room because of the eviction.
