‘I Love Mohammed’ banner removed from Lalkuan Mosque by police following protest

Nainital, 9 Oct: The Police in Lalkuan town intervened last evening to remove a poster bearing the message, ‘I Love Mohammed’, from the Roshan Masjid, following strong protests by activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). The action was taken after some Hindu organisations approached the local administration, expressing concern that the poster could disturb communal harmony and disrupt peace in the area.

According to local sources, the poster had been put up by the operators of the Roshan Masjid. The matter escalated when VHP activists, led by senior office-bearers Subhash Nagar and Manoj Gupta, lodged a formal complaint at the local police station. They alleged that the poster’s presence could lead to provocative processions by the persons associated with the mosque, thereby threatening public order.

Responding promptly to the complaint, a police team led by Senior SI Deepak Bisht of Lalkuan Kotwali reached the mosque and instructed the Maulana present to remove the poster immediately. Following its removal, the protesting Hindu activists dispersed peacefully.

Bisht later confirmed the incident, stating that the police had received information regarding the display of the ‘I Love Mohammed’ poster at the Roshan Masjid. He added that the police acted without delay and ensured the poster was taken down. Bisht further assured that peace and order in the area would be maintained under all circumstances.
