A video of an alleged iftar party held at Rishikul Postgraduate Ayurvedic College in Haridwar has triggered outrage among Hindu organizations. On Saturday, members of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) protested outside the City Magistrate’s office and the college, calling it a disrespect to Hindu traditions and demanding strict action against those responsible.
Allegations of Insulting Hindu Beliefs
Protesters stated that Rishikul Ayurvedic College, a reputed institution rooted in Hindu culture and Ayurveda, is not the appropriate venue for Islamic religious events. Bajrang Dal district coordinator Amit questioned if Hindu festivals would ever be allowed in Islamic institutions and termed the event an affront to Hindu sentiments.
Call for Legal Action
Anuj Walia, Bajrang Dal’s state coordinator, demanded that students and officials involved in the event be identified and legally penalized. He claimed the incident was a deliberate attempt to undermine Hindu traditions and would not be tolerated.
Inquiry Committee Formed
In response to the backlash, the college administration has formed a committee to investigate the matter. However, Hindu groups dismissed the move as superficial and insisted on concrete action against those found guilty.
VHP leaders including district president Balram Kapoor, Saurabh Chauhan, Naveen Teshwar, Deepak Talyan, Ankit Yadav, Himanshu Saini, Gopal Bhardwaj, Sajan Bajrangi, and Keshav Gaikwad participated in the protest.
