IG Anant Shankar’s Vehicle Damaged in Rishikesh Crash, No Injuries Reported

Rishikesh: A government vehicle carrying IG Training Anant Shankar Takawale met with an accident near Seven Bends in Rishikesh on Monday evening after an oncoming car rammed into it. While both vehicles were badly damaged, no injuries were reported.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm when the IG was returning to Dehradun after attending the passing-out parade of Deputy Superintendent of Police trainees at the Police Training College in Narendra Nagar. According to police, a car coming from the Dehradun side lost control and collided head-on with the IG’s vehicle near the Seven Bends stretch.

Officials said the driver of the other car admitted fault, stating that he dozed off briefly while driving, leading to the loss of control. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles.

Police teams reached the spot immediately after receiving information and brought the situation under control. Traffic movement was briefly affected but was restored after the damaged vehicles were removed from the road.

CO Neeraj Semwal said the IG’s vehicle was taken to Ranipokhri police station, while the other car was brought to Kotwali Rishikesh for further action. Police are examining the circumstances of the crash.
