Crackdown on Illegal Madrasas in Haldwani Intensifies, 13 Sealed So Far

Following Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directive, the crackdown on illegally operating madrasas in Haldwani continued for the second consecutive day. On Monday, Additional District Magistrate Vivek Kumar Roy led a team that sealed several unregistered madrasas operating without valid permits.

Earlier on Sunday, 18 illegal madrasas were identified in the Banbhoolpura area, of which 13 were sealed by the administration. While the situation in the area remained tense during the action, the deployment of heavy police force ensured no opposition or unrest occurred.

According to officials, most of these madrasas were being run inside residential homes located near mosques. Due to the sensitive nature of the locations, the campaign was paused on Sunday evening and resumed on Monday. The administration confirmed that similar actions are underway against illegal madrasas across the state.
