India-Indonesia Cooperation on Cybersecurity, Maritime Security

New Delhi, January 25, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a significant meeting at Hyderabad House, emphasizing deeper cooperation in cybersecurity, maritime security, counter-radicalization, and various other fields. The leaders signed agreements in health, digital infrastructure, and defense cooperation.

PM Modi highlighted Indonesia’s pivotal role in ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific region, reaffirming their joint commitment to peace, security, and prosperity. He stressed the importance of upholding international laws and ensuring freedom of navigation.

The leaders declared 2025 as the India-ASEAN Tourism Year to promote cultural exchange and tourism. PM Modi also underscored Indonesia’s historical ties with India, recalling its participation in India’s first Republic Day celebrations.

Discussing bilateral trade exceeding $30 billion, both nations agreed to enhance collaboration in fintech, artificial intelligence, and digital public infrastructure. Additionally, joint efforts in combating terrorism, cybersecurity, maritime security, and countering radicalization were prioritized.

Further agreements were made to strengthen partnerships in energy, science, space, and cultural exchange. PM Modi highlighted shared cultural heritage through the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bali Yatra and noted India’s participation in preserving the Prambanan Hindu Temple.

Welcoming Indonesia’s membership in BRICS, PM Modi reiterated a shared commitment to advancing the interests of Global South nations.
