The Indian men’s hockey team secured a dominant 7-0 victory over China in the Super-4 stage of the Asia Cup, sealing their spot in the final. Under the leadership of captain Harmanpreet Singh, India played an aggressive game from the outset and left no room for China to respond. India will now face Korea, who finished second in the points table, in the final on September 7.
India’s scoring spree began early with Shailendra Lakra netting a goal in the 3rd minute, followed by Dilpreet Singh converting a penalty corner in the 6th minute. In the 17th minute, Mandeep Singh struck another penalty corner to extend the lead to 3-0. The dominance continued in the third quarter with Rajpal Kumar (36’) and Sukhjeet Singh (38’) adding two more goals. In the final quarter, Abhishek sealed the win with goals in the 45th and 49th minutes.
India ended the Super-4 stage at the top of the table with 7 points. The team drew 2-2 against Korea in their opening match on September 3, defeated Malaysia 4-1 on September 4, and thrashed China 7-0 in their final group game. With an unbeaten run, India heads confidently into the title clash against Korea.
