The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a strong warning to Pakistan over its leaders’ repeated anti-India statements, calling them a long-standing tactic to divert attention from domestic failures. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Pakistan’s “irresponsible, warmongering and hate-filled comments” are not new, adding that any misadventure will cost Pakistan dearly, as seen recently.
Reaffirming India’s position on the Israel-Palestine conflict, Jaiswal said India supports a ceasefire, unconditional release of all hostages, and unhindered humanitarian aid to Gaza. He reiterated India’s support for a two-state solution, ensuring both nations live in peace and security.
On the Prime Minister’s possible participation in the UN General Assembly, Jaiswal said no decision has been made yet. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will attend the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission meeting in Moscow this month to discuss trade, economic, and cultural cooperation.
Highlighting defence ties, Jaiswal said India-US defence partnership is a key pillar of bilateral relations. A US defence policy team will visit Delhi in mid-August, followed by the ‘Yudh Abhyas’ military exercise in Alaska and a 2+2 inter-sessional meeting to further strengthen strategic cooperation. He clarified that de-dollarisation is not part of India’s financial agenda.
On the proposed US-Russia meeting in Alaska on August 15, Jaiswal said India welcomes the move as a positive step towards dialogue on key global issues, reiterating PM Modi’s stance that “this is not an era of war.”
