A programme was organised at the Sridev Suman University campus in Naikhri, Tehri Garhwal, to mark the 100th birth anniversary of late Indramani Badoni, the pioneer of the Uttarakhand movement and widely known as the “Parvatiya Gandhi”. The event was held under the chairmanship of Principal and Director Dr Mahant Maurya and witnessed enthusiastic participation from teachers, students and staff members.
The programme began with floral tributes and garlanding of Indramani Badoni’s portrait, paying homage to his lifelong struggle and contribution to the formation of Uttarakhand. Speakers recalled his role in raising the voice of the hill people and safeguarding their rights, culture and identity.
Head of the Sociology Department, Dr P S Bisht, spoke in detail about Badoni’s life, struggles and his unmatched contribution to the Uttarakhand statehood movement. He said Badoni devoted his entire life to the cause of the people of the hills and his ideals continue to inspire the younger generation.
Dr D D Dixit from the Department of Chemistry said that Indramani Badoni’s thoughts remain relevant even today. He stressed that Badoni’s principles are essential for the sustainable development of Uttarakhand, preservation of its culture and strengthening social awareness in society.

Concluding the programme, Director Dr Mahant Maurya urged students and staff to imbibe the values and ideas of Indramani Badoni in their lives and move forward on the path shown by him. The event concluded with the presence of the entire college fraternity, reflecting collective respect for the legacy of the leader remembered as the Parvatiya Gandhi.
