Kathgodam and Lalkuan are set to get 11 new train services, including Vande Bharat Express. The proposal includes Kathgodam–New Delhi Vande Bharat six days a week and Izzatnagar–Chandigarh Vande Bharat on the same schedule. Ramnagar–Udaipur City Express may run twice a week, while Kathgodam–Subedarganj Express is planned for daily service.
Other proposals include Izzatnagar Lalkuan–Haridwar Express once a week, Lalkuan–Yeshvantpur Express once a week, and Lalkuan–Kanpur Express once a week. Kasganj–New Delhi Express may run four days a week, Kasganj–Secunderabad daily, and Kasganj–Varanasi thrice a week.
According to North Eastern Railway CPRO Pankaj Singh, once approved, passengers from Kumaon and Terai will get direct modern train connectivity to Delhi, Haridwar, Chandigarh, Udaipur, Katra, Varanasi, and Secunderabad. With Dehradun already on the Vande Bharat network, Kumaon residents have been eagerly awaiting this extension.
