The Kedarnath Yatra preparations are facing challenges as the shrine remains covered under a thick layer of snow ahead of the scheduled opening on April 22. While the snow-clad temple presents a scenic view, it has slowed down ongoing arrangements for the pilgrimage.

Authorities in Rudraprayag are working to clear routes and restore essential services to ensure smooth movement for pilgrims. Similar conditions are being reported from Badrinath, where fresh snowfall is also affecting pre-yatra preparations.

District Magistrate Vishal Mishra said that Kedarnath Yatra preparations are in the final stage. He informed that over 4,73,168 pilgrims have already registered for the Yatra. The registration centre at Sonprayag is fully operational, and steps have been taken to strengthen sanitation and public facilities.

To maintain cleanliness, 245 workers from Sulabh and over 200 sanitation staff from local bodies have been deployed. Special focus is being given to waste management, toilets, and hygiene. Around 50 percent of hotel accommodations have already been booked. Helicopter services will operate from Guptkashi, Sersi, and Phata with multiple flights planned daily.

Road repair work from Sirohbagad to Gaurikund is underway to improve connectivity. Officials stated that health services, disaster response, drinking water, electricity, and communication systems have been strengthened. This year, making videos and reels inside the temple premises will be restricted to maintain order.

Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar said the area has been divided into 3 super zones, 17 zones, and 47 sectors for better security and crowd management. Mobile patrolling, barricading, shuttle services, and parking arrangements have been put in place. Verification drives for outsiders are ongoing, and strict action is being taken against illegal activities, including illicit liquor.

The Kedarnath Yatra preparations have also been impacted by a glacier break near Tharu Camp close to Badi Lincholi on the trekking route. A section of the path has been partially blocked after the incident, which occurred around 12:30 PM. No casualties have been reported.
