Kedarnath Dham is witnessing extremely harsh winter conditions, with nearly five feet of snow accumulated across the shrine area and surrounding routes. The temperature in the temple town has dropped to minus 16 degrees Celsius, making the weather conditions highly challenging.
Despite the severe cold, low oxygen levels, and difficult terrain, personnel from Uttarakhand Police and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) remain deployed at the shrine to ensure security and maintenance. Following heavy snowfall on Tuesday, weather conditions improved on Wednesday, allowing security forces to begin clearing snow from blocked pathways.
Jawans worked for several hours to remove thick layers of snow from approach routes and around their barracks to restore basic movement and connectivity. The task involved clearing snow piled up to a height of nearly five feet in some areas.
