The sacred Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand will open its doors to devotees on May 2, while the Badrinath Temple will welcome pilgrims from May 4. The Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, Vijay Prasad Thapliyal, confirmed the dates. Additionally, the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples will open on April 30, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya.
Kedarnath Opening Date Announced on Mahashivaratri
On Mahashivaratri, a special puja was performed at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, where religious scholars and Vedic priests determined the auspicious time for the opening of Kedarnath’s portals. The temple will open at 7 AM on May 2, under the Gemini zodiac sign and Taurus ascendant.
The announcement was made in the presence of Kedarnath’s Rawal Bhimashankar Ling, along with priests Shiv Shankar Ling, Bagesh Ling, and Gangadhar Ling. A special prayer ceremony was conducted at Omkareshwar Temple before the official declaration.
