The Kedarnath Yatra in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district has been severely impacted due to ongoing heavy rainfall and continuous landslides. Sliding zones near the Sonprayag shuttle bridge and Munkatiya are witnessing frequent rock and debris falls, completely blocking the pedestrian route for pilgrims.
As a safety measure, yatra pilgrims have been halted at Sonprayag and Gaurikund. Authorities resumed limited movement only after the debris was cleared. The route is being regulated with controlled openings and closures depending on the weather and road safety. The responsible construction agencies, administrative officials, and police personnel are on high alert to ensure safe passage for pilgrims.
Although the Rudraprayag–Gaurikund National Highway remained closed in the morning, it was reopened around 9 AM. Currently, only pedestrian movement is being allowed under strict monitoring.
